In Smart Exploration self organising maps are used for analysing data from several sites, where data mining is a major part of the work. In this presentation, Simo Piippo (University of Helsinki, University of Turku) focuses on the utilisation of geochemical soil samples in studying previously unknown geological features, such as recognising potential locations of porphyry-type Au-Cu deposits or interpreting varying ore-forming processes.
