Alireza Malehmir

Alireza is a Professor of applied geophysics at Uppsala University with an undergraduate degree in mining engineering with specialization in mineral exploration and a PhD degree in Geophysics. Alireza is the scientific coordinator of the Smart Exploration project and conducts research mainly on mineral exploration seismics as well as instrumentations for high-resolution seismic imaging.
Per Gisselø

Per Gisselø

WP2 Leader

Per holds a PhD in Geosciences from the University of Aarhus, Denmark obtained in 2001. Per is Head of Operations at SkyTEM Surveys ApS. He is engaged as an active member of the management group and work as a team leader as well as professional specialist in organization of airborne surveys and the processing of airborne electromagnetic and magnetic data. Per is through his position at SkyTEM acquainted with a wide range of mining and exploration companies worldwide.
Valentina Socco

Valentina Socco

WP3 Leader

Valentina is an Associate professor of applied geophysics, holding a MSc in civil engineering and PhD in Environmental Geo-engineering. She is in charge of the Applied Geophysics Lab of DIATI-Polito and was awarded the Conrad Schlumberger Award in 2014.

Previous roles include: Chair-person of the Near Surface Division Committee of EAGE and member of EAGE Board (2014-16). SEG Honorary Lecturer 2013. Assistant Editor of Geophysics. She has been the Principal investigator or participant in many research projects financed by national and international institutions and companies.

Her research focus is on seismic guided wave exploration and geophysical data integration for engineering to O&G exploration. She has authored of more than 110 peer reviewed international publications.

João Carvalho

João Carvalho

WP4 Leader

João Carvalho holds a PhD in Physics (Solid Earth Geophysics, 2004) and a M.Sc. in Solid Earth Geophsyics (1997) both at University of Lisbon. He is a senior Geophysicist at LNEG where he develops and applies seismic and potential field methods to resources exploration, tectonics, environment, engineering, geothermics, etc. He participated in more than 30 research projects, supervised multiple post-docs, M.Sc., and graduation scholars.

He has published more than 30 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters and over 90 works in international and national congresses. He was vice-president of the Geology Section of LNEG’s Scientific Council in 2012 and he is also a collaborator of the Instituto Dom Luíz of the University of Lisbon and of the Centre of Geophysics of the University of Évora.

Paul Marsden

Paul Marsden

WP5 Leader

Paul is a graduate geologist and chartered engineer in mineral processing. Paul is an experienced senior executive with a wide range of technical and commercial skills, as well comprehensive understanding of the iron ore markets, iron ore mining and steel industry developments, and have a sound knowledge of the technical, the practical and commercial risks involved with mine development projects, from exploration to production.

Paul has extensive knowledge of iron ore product development and iron-making metallurgical processes, as well as the strategic requirements of the iron ore and steel industries.

Asli Onar Verboon

Asli Onar Verboon

WP6 Leader

Asli is the EU Public Affairs Officer for EAGE. She has a Degree in European Union Studies at Istanbul University, which focused on the EU Policies and International Relations, followed by an MA in European Law and Policy in Europe. She has extensive experience in project management, capacity building, stakeholder management, publications, external relations and public affairs.

In 2015, asked to set-up a road map for relations with EU as a new activity of EAGE, and currently working as EU Public Affairs Officer in the area of building a bridge between EU and geosciences world.

Marcin Loska

Marcin Loska

WP7 Leader

Marcin is Chairman of the Board of Proxis company. A graduate of Silesian University of Technology, Faculty of Organization and Management in Katowice, he has vast experience in project management in different areas, including power industry (EPC projects for CFB boilers for power plants in Bulgaria and Brazil), ferroalloys industry and R&D works.

He was involved as a project manager in many projects granted by European Union under Polish financial aid programs (Innovative Economy Operational Program 2007-2014). Recently, he has been involved in developing exploration projects and obtaining financial aid under Polish Smart Growth Operational Program.
